Virginia College Quest

The Virginia College Quest project came to an end on December 31, 2012.

Established in 2002 with a grant from the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities, the project provided information, resources, and activities for over a decade. Ongoing support was provided by the Virginia Dept. of Education Training and Technical Assistance Center at George Mason University.

We suggest the following resources for information about preparing for and succeeding in college:

bullet Virginia Dept. of Education: College planning resources

bullet Center on Transition Innovations: Centralized statewide resource for educators and other stakeholders involved in the transition of youth with disabilities, created by the Virginia Department of Education in conjunction with Virginia Commonwealth University.

bullet I'm Determined: An information-packed website for students, parents, and educators - provided by the Va Dept. of Education's Self-Determination Project

bullet Parent Educational Advocacy Training Center (PEATC) - Virginia's federally funded Parent Training and Information Center providing information and training

bullet Virginia AHEAD - A statewide organization of professionals committed to full participation in higher education for persons with disabilities.

bullet THINK COLLEGE - A federally funded project providing information about planning for and attending college for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

bullet National Secondary Transition Technical Assistance Center - A federally funded project that provides technical assistance (TA) and disseminates information to State Education Agencies, Local Education Authorities, schools, and other stakeholders to implement and scale up evidence-based practices leading to improved academic and functional achievement for students with disabilities, preparing them for college or other postsecondary education and training and the workforce and implement policies, procedures, and practices to facilitate and increase participation of students with disabilities in programs and initiatives designed to ensure college- and career-readiness

bullet National Center on Secondary Education and Transition - A federally funded project that coordinates national resources, offers technical assistance, and disseminates information related to secondary education and transition for youth with disabilities.
